1. Which songs or monologue should I choose?
Choose songs and monologues that genuinely interest you and allow you to tell a clear, engaging story.
In an audition setting, it is always best to select material that sits comfortably within your natural range, so you can focus fully on storytelling and performance rather than vocal strain or technical difficulty.
Ideally, prepare two contrasting songs that demonstrate different styles or character types - for example, up-tempo and ballad, or contemporary and Golden Age. This contrast helps us see your versatility as a performer.
You are welcome to choose material from our suggested musical theatre audition song and monologue list.
2. I haven't had any formal training in singing, acting or dancing - should I still audition?
While a career in musical theatre requires skills in singing, acting, and dance, we recognise that applicants come from a wide range of training backgrounds and experience levels.
We strongly encourage applications from performers without formal training. We are looking for potential, natural ability, and above all, the attitude, work ethic, and openness to thrive in our programme. Training can be developed - commitment and curiosity are what we look for at entry level
3. Which trimester can I start my training?
APAC is unique in offering three intakes per year. Once accepted, you can begin your studies in either January, May, or September.
This flexible intake structure allows successful applicants to commence their training at multiple points throughout the year.
4. What does a typical day look like?
At APAC, we operate as a conservatoire-style training environment.
Students engage in a wide range of practical classes including individual singing lessons, dance (tap, jazz, and ballet), acting classes, acting through song masterclasses, and voice training.
Alongside performance training, students also study the business of musical theatre, developing essential industry knowledge and vocational skills to support a sustainable creative career.
Our BA in Musical Theatre is hands-on, practical, and designed to prepare students for the demands and realities of the professional musical theatre industry.
